The Last Vet

In rural areas, veterinarians face extinction due to both depopulation and the profession's demanding working conditions, endangering the integrity of those communities and overall public health.

In the vast rural setting, where the earth embraces the sky, the veterinarian faces an unprecedented challenge. The mass exodus to the cities has left rural areas practically empty and helpless, and veterinarians, essential pillars of animal health, are in danger of extinction in these environments.

By working side by side with ranchers, their work transcends mere attention to the animals; constitutes the guarantee of safe and healthy foods.

Both rural depopulation itself and the demanding working conditions suffered by rural veterinarians, with exhausting hours and 24/7 availability, have caused a disturbing shortage of these professionals, putting public health and the integrity of entire communities in check.

I found it interesting to represent this situation through surgery on a cow because it is not a daily task but is quite common and of such complexity that it can only be carried out by an experienced professional.
