Others feeling
A story made up of frames of moments of the migratory journey, to evoke and imagine the feelings of others
For about 30 years the migration phenomenon, in its most recent form, has marked our era and occupied the media. After having documented this context for years, like many others, I cannot help but feel frustration when I notice the distance that remains in the perception of the phenomenon by the collective imagination. A distance above all from the experience of other human beings, from what they feel, as if it could not be grasped and truly understood.
Perhaps we see too much and show too much, certainly overexposure and habituation hinder empathy and identifying with these lives is probably impossible.
Perhaps we need to be able to evoke, rather than show.
For this reason, and for my own needs, I wanted to create a story that is not linear in time and space, but which wants to evoke the feelings of some of these people, starting from specific moments, frames of a fluctuating path. Dream, hope, waiting, loneliness, frustration but also joy, happiness in the face of solidarity and impotence in the face of violence; and suffering, for loved ones who are far away or no longer with us.
