Aunt Tullia

The pictures depict my Great Aunt Tullia, my grandmother's sister, intent on preparing a plate of risotto for lunch with the company of her trusty little dog Freddie. A project for all parents, grandparents, uncles and elderly friends who had to eat lunch alone during the pandemic.

This reportage is part of a larger project, namely an artist's book made in 2022 that collects recipes for a year prepared by my family on special occasions in which we gathered. It came about as a result of the loss of my grandparents to covid and is meant to reflect on the moments of community that we lost to the pandemic, the role that food plays in creating these moments, the loss, and the importance of preserving memory and passing it on.
