The Garden

This photographic essay explore the notion of home and the mythology of the place, the relationships between me and my parents.

Our family history was covered in an ideal appearance but our relationships were not simple, like the first pages of a book where every word is carefully chosen to create a perfect image. However, each page hid subtext.
A year ago, I began a photographic journey within our family universe. At that point, things still seemed stable. I immersed myself in the visual storytelling of our stories. For what? To distort the truth? Not really. Rather to embellish reality. It was like playing one of those imaginary games our parents used to invent for us in our childhood. Now we have reversed the roles.
This summer, while visiting my parents, I realized that the first act of this game was over. A new chapter was coming, but the creation of this new scenario proved painful, full of despair. A key character - my father - left the scene, refusing to continue the dialogue, while new secondary characters entered. Will there be a sequel?
The title of this series, « The Garden », also resonates with the allegory of the Garden of Eden. A place where the ideal and the dream seem both desirable and lost, and where the possibility of their realization seems forever impossible.
