Mating and ovulation of the Rana Temporaria
During the snowmelt period the Temporary Frogs come down to the lake shores to mate and ovulate.
When the ice melts and the waters awaken, the Temporary Frogs begin their love ritual. On the banks of the lake, the males compete for the females, trying to climb onto their backs and resist the attacks of their rivals. But it is not easy to maintain the throne when so many others aspire to the crown. Meanwhile, the frogs who have fulfilled their duty adorn the bottom of the lake with a mantle of pearls, which guard the life of future tadpoles. Thus the cycle of the Temporary Frogs is renewed, between challenges and splendors, between passion and nature.
