Home is where Home is
Dignity is a basic human right, but it is not always respected. I explored the theme of dignity through the story of Josè, a Portuguese who occupied part of an abandoned colony and made it his home.
Every time you cross the net pierced on the street side, you enter a dimension where wealth comes from what Josè creates, from the little things that are built sometimes out of necessity and sometimes just for pleasure. Both are important.
It is just where from the leftovers one builds dinner, from the forgotten objects along the streets one builds a window or a sculpture, I look in wonder at this bloody difficult but yet serene life.
Nothing is missing even though everything is missing.
That space he calls home is so much more:
It is shelter and work, cross and delight; It is vegetable garden and garden but also hell and heaven.
