Hebron
Impressions from the divided city of Hebron during January 2015
This series was taken in the city of Hebron during a visit in January 2015. The city is strictly divided in the Palestinian part and the one of Israeli settlers. Part of the city center is therefor emptied as a buffer zone. The city is counted by both Jews and Muslims as one of the four holy sites and is therefore claimed as their own. During my visit, I was able to move freely in both sectors H1 and H2. What amazed me was to find, despite the desolate atmosphere, an everyday life, which was mainly characterized by playing children and teenagers. However, the latent tension cannot be ignored, as shown by the picture of the Israeli young man who goes jogging only with a machine gun.
