5am ​​appointment in the stable

There are currently many farms in Ticino that are involved in breeding and production of dairy products. Many women work on these farms. This project tells the story of some of them that I have met.

Flavia, Albertine and Natascha are three women who work on some of the many Swiss farms in Ticino.
Their day starts at 5 am with milking cows or goats and continues with the many ritual tasks that a farm with animals, and the production of dairy products, entails.
They are breeders, cheesemakers, farm managers together with their companions.
They not only dedicate themselves to their work with professionalism, but also with a passion that leads them to achieve very satisfying results.
Alongside the hard work that this profession entails, there is also their important role as mothers, which they perform with equal love and dedication.
With my photos I wanted to tell their story, because I have great admiration and esteem for these strong, capable and determined women, and to remember all those who, like them, carry out this wonderful work with tireless energy and enthusiasm.
