Remote lands
Iceland has become a popular tourist destination thanks to the landscapes, roaring waterfalls, volcanoes and lava fields. Off the beaten tracks of ravaging tourism, Iceland’s North-western fiords show the raw face of a land beaten and shaped by the elements, born from the heart of the planet and molded by millions of years. These remote lands invite the traveler to an intimate trip through one’s heart and soul. With the magnificent views, vast spaces, stunning silences and harsh weather conditions they evoke strong feelings of respect and admiration for such a marvelous display of beauty and, at the same time, a sense of deep loneliness, isolation and sorrow. An intimate trip into the core of this country, where the kindness of the population acts as a counterpoint to the asperity of the land and weather. A community with strong roots into its history and traditions like the “rettir”, the gathering of the sheep from the grazing lands at the end of each summer.
