Photography project about the LGBTQIA+ community in Azerbaijan

My upcoming photography project “THEY.”. I am shooting this project in Azerbaijan in 2023.

Azerbaijan was a part of the Soviet Union (and part of a huge Soviet empire) more than 20 years ago.

Despite the fact that not everything is perfect in Azerbaijan with human rights, with free journalism and women’s rights, I was shocked to know that in this Muslim country LGBTQIA+ community has the strong leaders with a voices who fight for rights of people from of this community.

In my country, Russia, people from the LGBTQIA+ community are becoming illegal day after day.

On July 19, 2023, the Russian government adopted a criminal law banning transgender transition for transgender people.
