Civilians who fled from the Russian-Ukrainian war

On February 24th, 2022 the Russian army has invaded Ukraine. In the first weeks of March, women and children left Ukraine finding refuge in the neighbouring countries. Men from 18 to 60 years old had to remain due to the martial law applied.
Moldova found itself overwhelmed by a huge wave of refugee. Despite not being ready and the bad economic situation that affect the country since his independence, the whole population is doing all that is within their capabilities to deal with the situation of emergency. Welcoming dozens of thousand of Ukrainians, it was the country with the highest number of refugees per person arriving from the two border of Otaci in the north and Palanca in the south.
On the Ukrainian side, among sandbags, anti-aircraft sirens, check points, restrictions, curfew and iron structures to avoid when driving on the roads, someone decided to stay and go on with their lives. Cities like Odessa kept living their daily routine, but every corner is controlled by the army or by the so-called territorial defence. During the last weeks, the escalation of the conflict is affecting Odessa too, increasing the flow of refugees arriving in Moldova
