Craig: Amboseli Big Tusker

There are large herds of Elephants including some of the last big tuskser living in Kenya. Craig is one of these.

The Amboseli national park is known for an important presence of big tusks as well as the Tsavo park.

We had the honor and privilege of meeting Craig, one of the last big tusker.

Craig is in his 50s and is cousin of Tim, another well-knowe big taks that passed away of natural death in 2000.

The chance we had is that Craig wandered outside the Amboseli park and in particular in a private conservancy on its eastern border.
This allowed our ranger to get off the roads and into the bush to get closer.

Knowing Craig's mild temperament (he knows him for years) we were able to get out of the jeep in order to photograph him sitting or lying on the ground.

The best view is reflected in some of Craig's close-up shots.

A unique and unforgettable experience.
