Happiness has found me

i came to south Kurdistan to work on a film project for a Syrien director. on one of my last days i visited the home of some of our actors, a refugee camp near by Duhok.

i wanted to bring home some impressions to remind my lucky fellow citizen that there still is a war and people are suffering. but then i’ve got carried away by the love and the contentment i’ve experienced there. i just had a few hours in the camp but i met so many good people. They all have been so proud, of their new home, their achievement under limiting circumstances, their children. and they have found their peace. i can´t remember when was the last time is saw so many happy faces.

this particular camp is one of the oldest in this region and the residents got permission to build their own small houses. for most of the people it´s clear, there is no way to go back to Syria soon.
