Behind a fire

The interests behind a fire in Bolivia.

Fires are raging in Bolivia, hitting particularly hard the Chiquitano dry forests of the country’s southern Santa Cruz region. Mennonites, skilled farmers but with limited knowledge of the world, implement deforestation and aridity of land by spraying the surrounding land with agro-toxic. The large landowners increase monocultures with transgenic plants, moreover the meat market, recently opened also to China and Russia, requires more and more vast land for grazing.
Indigenous peoples, finding themselves without water, food, and natural pharmacy, surrounded by the land of large landowners, are forced to head to the city most of the time ending up on the street, soothing their worries with alcohol and drugs. We know that man needs violent emotional shocks to understand the gravity of the actions he is carrying out. This ongoing project attempts to explain what's behind a single fire that slowly wears down our most precious asset, nature.

I think it is very important, especially as a preventive work, to focus on the problems that push man to set fire to his own ecosystem. The interests behind a single fire flare up much faster even if they are apparently not visible or do not want to be seen.
