TIME CALMS BUT NOT ERASE THE PAIN

20th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide (Bosnia)

The Srebrenica genocide is one of the vilest episodes in contemporary European history.
Within a few days, in July 1995, over 8,300 boy and men of childbearing age were executed, while 30,000 people made up of women, children and the elderly were forced to leave their villages by force. . Many of these women, after being raped, then committed suicide
For several years, in the month of July, the poor remains of the men massacred, found and exhumed during the year have been returned to their families. Mothers, wives and children have decided to bury their loved ones together. They buried them in Potocari, a place located opposite the old Dutch headquarters of the United Nations, where they had seen them alive for the last time before being handed over, in a vile way, by the Dutch UN forces to their executioners.
The images were taken in Srebrenica (Bosnia) in the village of Potocari on 11 July 2015 during the ceremony to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide. During this ceremony, numerous bodies found in mass graves discovered in the last year were returned to relatives.
