Miguelito is an 8 year old, whose every day is filled with natures magic in Nicaragua

In Nicaragua is located the biggest lake in Central America, the only one in the world home to sweet water sharks, this rich lake officially called "lake Cocibolca" also known to locals as "the big lake of Nicaragua" has a beautiful volcano named "Mombacho", whose top was blown off thousands of years ago, throwing gigantic rocks into the lake which gave life to exactly 365 isles of different sizes and shapes creating a paradise full of vegetation and charming waters. Around 1,200 people call this isles their home. Mostly fishermen. These pictures are a small window into the life of a family of three. Miguelito (little Mike) is an 8 year old, whose every day is filled with natures magic. Him, his father Chanito and small Santiago live in a humble lake home. Time goes by slowly when you are in these isles, the absence of urban noise works wonders on your inner clock, here you can find the basics for life; schools, medical center, cemetery and pulperias. These rock formations have served as inspiration to many poets, painters and musicians whose work has been supervised by the towering Mombacho volcano, protector of this paradise. Miguelito claims that he feels the power of nature in his body and wants to share his magical water world with you.
