According to an ancient tradition on Holy Friday a precious 13th-century crucifix, left, it seems, by ancient Romei pilgrims, and kept at the sanctuary of the SS. Announced, is carried in procession through the streets of Como.
Many cityzens and tourists follow the procession starting from the basilica of the Crucifix of Varese Avenue and proceed to follow the bishop, the brotherhoods, associations, congregations, priests.
The procession runs through the entire city and continues on the lakefront for the blessing, present the main civil and military authorities.
At the end the Crucifix, welcomed by the musical band, returns to the basilica where it will be exhibited to visitors of the sanctuary.
