A New Silk Road

A visual investigation on the “Belt and Road”, China’s enormous initiative to revive the Silk Road, to document the effects of geopolitical ambition on local communities and to encourage a public debate on the consequences of such staggering plans.

In the last three years, I have been investigating how the “Belt and Road” - China’s enormous initiative to revive the old Silk Road - will impact on local communities.
The BRI has an expected cost of more than a trillion dollars and it will connect, when complete, sixty-five percent of the world’s population.
I am documenting, for future records, the evolution of physical and social landscape caused by new forms of financial colonization.
“A New Silk Road” is a visual journey across global economics corridors to give a human face to the effects of geopolitical ambition.
