Orphans Train

This story is about orphans from Syria and Iraq, who for the first time after fleeing the wars, went on a train trip through the desert of Jordan. The bumpy, old train which travels only sometimes between Amman and Al-Jizah, became a vehicle for the children to try to forget what happened in their home countries and on their journey to refuge.

One can see the suffering they went through. These traumas need time for healing and a prospect for the future would work supportive, which is not always given. Worldwide there are approximately 2 million orphans from Syria and Iraq - a large number of them living today in Jordan, facing uncertainty everyday. Especially those who are about to attain legal age, when in most cases they have to take full responsibilty for themselves.

At least on that day in October 2017, for a few moments, these traumas got conquered by bits of joy. By being together on this very special trip.
