BUGARDO, ASTANO

More than a decade ago, Regina, a former school teacher, and her husband Stefan, a multi-professional, both coming from the german part of Switzerland and looking for an alternative lifestyle, made Bugardo, a place in Astano, Malcantone, their home.
It is a rather large forest clearing with several old „rustici“ which they renovated and refurnished one by one over the years and some fruitful land where they grow their own vegetables organicly and have their own dairy products from a small herd of goats.
A rich water source and enough power from solar panels complete their infrastructure to give them an almost self-sufficient basis of life over the whole year.

They invited me for an afternoon in early spring 2017 to capture their hand in hand work relationship as well as their love, carefulness and deep passion for their plants, the soil and their animals.
