Polar Express - da Pechino a Mosca

Il reportage racconta una storia di ricerca, solitudine e smarrimento anche temporale.

L’apertura è soffocante, con una Grande Muraglia colta da un’angolazione claustrofobica. La successione dei fusi orari è specchio del passaggio attraverso il dolore, essenziale per giungere alla luce. La “chiave di volta” è la figura che varca la luce del sottopasso, attimo che precede la metaforica immersione nella profonda quiete del lago Baikal. Da questo momento la storia quasi impercettibilmente si modifica e lascia filtrare luce e speranza. Tutte le figure solitarie, i paesaggi, l’ombra del treno, sono specchio e ritratto dell’autore. L’alternarsi del giorno e della notte senza una precisa sequenza esalta le fasi e i passaggi di una ricerca interiore.

In rottura con gli schemi spazio-temporali, il racconto si chiude con lo stesso soggetto iniziale (allegoria di confine e paure), ripreso stavolta a “volo d’uccello”, trasmettendo un’ idea di libertà. Una chiusura ad anello, quindi, che rappresenta il cerchio di emozioni che fanno da cornice a tutta l'esistenza umana, nel continuo alternarsi di sofferenze ma anche di gioie inattese. © www.dariocamilotto.com

The reportage tells a story of research, solitude and bewilderment although temporary.

The opening is stifling, with a Great Wall caught by a claustrophobic angle. The succession of time zones is the mirror of a passage through pain, essential for reaching the light. The “keystone” is the figure that crosses the light of the underground passage, a moment that precedes the metaphorical immersion in the deep silence of Lake Baikal. From this point on the story almost imperceptibly changes and lets in light and hope. All the solitary figures, landscapes and shadow of a train are a mirror and portrait of the author. The alternation of day and night without a precise sequence enhances the stages and steps of an inner search.

In breaking with the patterns of space and time, the story concludes with the same initial subject (allegory of boundaries and fears), shot at a “bird's eye” level, instilling an idea of freedom. A closed loop, therefore, that represents a circle of emotions that is the setting for all human existence, in the continuous alternation of suffering but also of unexpected joys. © www.dariocamilotto.com
