Back to Anatolia
Years ago my grand-parents (turkish ones) went to Switzerland to work and to create a ''new and better'' future for the generations to come (my father and my aunts). Well what I did (with my boyfriend) was the same route but in the opposite direction: I traveled by car from Switzerland to Turkey - Yozgat - (7900km roundtrip), taking photographs throughout the various balkan Countries (Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia, Bulgaria) until arriving to Turkey.
I start by saying that I experimented something different, something a bit more abstract than a conventional reportage; I just tried to ''speak about people and places with another language''
What I captured, despite the great distances between these Countries, were the similarities. I looked for something and someone visually related, using similar colors, light, frames, simmetry and balanced compositions. I considered this Project as a Journey and each picture as a flashback of our long Trip.
My principal influence has been the ''Düsseldorf School of Photography'' and the ''New Objectivity''.
