Borders

The "Borders" project was born from the idea of a photography course in the Foundation's "Family of Mary" of Naples. In order to organize an activity that could really make a mark in the minds of young kids who participated in my lab, I decided to make up for the lack of tools for organizing the workshop low tech methods, or using film and photographic paper. Right now the problem of the camera has been solved by the pinhole, which is basically a dark room with a tiny hole to be able to expose photosensitive media. In many build this type of camera using shoe boxes or tin cans; but me and my partner, Miguel Santos Tiago, the Portuguese artist and photographer, have built two pinhole cameras, one for the photosensitive paper 20 × 20 and the second to be able to load 35mm film. In addition to ipinhole they have been used disposable cameras charged for shots of the boys.

The result of the workshop was presented to the museum PAN in Naples: on display with 120 photographs, the fruit of the labor of children who have learned the basics of photographic composition, the history of photography and learned the rules of the pinhole, even working with Sunpaper, a particular type of photosensitive paper.

Since our project "borders", we photographed with the same PINHOLE, he his neighborhood and mine.

Luciana Latte & Miguel Alexandre Dos Santos Tiago.
