Tourist

The Presentation of this ‚human-type‘ is the result of my obsessive way to see them, even when I‘m not looking for it, especially at airports, trainstations and in famous city - areas.

Mrs. & Mr. Tourist can be seen everywhere and from far away. They seem to use some ‚code‘, how to wear their outfit, how to behave, how to be a tourist.

They are trying to escape from their busy and stressful world. By entering a new environement, full of surprises and pleasure. For that they have to leave their own personality, to be able to act like ‚The Tourist‘. Suddenly interested and observing more than ever.

A big amount of today‘s Tourist is that he must hold his stays figuratively. As Susan Sontag writes in her book ‚About Photography‘:

Photography has become the twin brother of tourism - alone fiddling with the camera softens the feeling of disorientation that is often exacerbated by travel. The picture then is the proof that one has made the journey and thereby also had his fun!
