An old camera, which develops instantly.

A few packs of expired polaroid film from which you can develop large format negatives.

A bucket full of sodium sulphate solution.

With this equipment that requires me to take pictures slowly, I go back to Cuba with the idea of shooting the encounters with those gazes which are so tied to an idea of free friendship, intended as a bond which wears out in a short period of time, but which can be recoup with the same strength in the moment of come back.

I am mostly interested in meeting people from the backcountry, which are both persevering and fatalists, so proud of the role that someone else decided for them.

In spite of the anxiety which invades the island and the new turmoil instigated by an inevitable generational juxtaposition, Cuba of the year 2000 remains, in its most profound aspects, loyal to its classical identity: an example of true humanity that looks you in the eyes with its precariousness and limits.

At the end of this new journey in this land, made of encounters, intimacies, promises, gifted photos, difficult attempts to curb with the eyes the inexhaustible movement of a pulsing life, you sense that you have crossed an infinite series of looks and lives, all worth of being told.
