At Home With George

This series was created to document the daily life of a retired person. Out of a series of approximately ten images I chose these three as the most characteristic of my subject.

George is a good subject because of his casual and relaxed demeanor in front of the camera; his facial expressions and body movements are innate. To give the images an interesting visual different angles and positioning were added.

The images were made over several weeks using a technique of off camera flash for the main and an on camera flash for a fill. A bounce card was also used to provide fill. This lighting provides appealing shadows, texture, and tone. Using an Ultra Wide lens on my camera provided just enough distortion to arouse interest and create individuality.
