Inner Sight

Sub-Saharan Africa is home to approximately 7.1 of the world's 38 million blind. Cataract, trachoma, onchocerciasis, glaucoma are just some of the diseases that lead to blindness. Millions of people have lost their sight because of these diseases which in most cases could be prevented or cured.

Blindness, disabling visual impairment and the overall lack of eye-care services are too often the result of social, economic and developmental challenges of the developing world. Poverty is increasing the amount of obstacles for the blind to survive their daily life.

Aster, 12, lost her sight because of given wrong medicine. She was given away by her mother when she was three years old. Now she lives in Addis Abeba in an orphanage. Aster's sight is driven by intuition - deep love for nature, activities like running and swimming, reading and singing, and the most by her optimism for life.
