In case of an airplane emergency, we are informed that we should first put the oxygen mask on ourselves, before helping anyone else. The same principle applies to relationships. Before attempting to build any kind of relationship with others, we should first build a solid relationship with ourselves, because this is the foundation for how we live our lives. This is the simple truth behind “foundation”, an ongoing series of pictures aiming to explore how we relate to ourselves. Using myself as a model, I have tried to create images that I hope speak to everyone, myself included. These are my thoughts and observations of myself and of the people that surround me.
