A female mountain gorilla was resting

Again in Uganda, this female mountain gorilla was resting while the rest of the family was feeding. Under the canopy in the tropical rainforest, there is some low light that really pushes our camera abilities to the limit. This photo might not be perfect, but it give me some serenity, some hope and a clear message of peace. Mountain Gorillas cannot be held into zoos because of their environmental needs that are very complicated. They live in extreme tropical environments that cannot be reproduced by american or european zoos. Conservation projects need to act on site, directly with the rangers and the communities. Uganda is doing great showing increasing number of individuals, but their neighbor RDC struggles because of its war and illegal traffic.
