A Ranspach walk- after the storm

I took this series of photos five minutes from my house, at the end of a long rainy day. There was a sudden break in the rain and an opportunity to get out of the house; I did not expect what I saw- which was a complex misty watery wonderland, which morphed into a clear and colourful sunset before my eyes. The big skies of Ranspach are a wonderful sight. On this day, sunshine was unexpected.

I am an amateur photographer, but take many photos often- of people, small objects, large vistas. I very much enjoy the challenge of framing a photo and trying to capture something striking- in this series using the form of the foreground (the trees) or the colours of the background (the varied sky, the mist), or the layers of the land. Here I was also experimenting with water, and how it reflects both on the smaller scale- as a drop (it is possible to see the arc of the branches and leaves in the reflection within the drop), and also as a larger puddle, reflecting groups of trees and a flaming tree as it catches the final rays of a dazzling sunset.

I hope you enjoy the photos. This is the first competition I have entered. Nothing to lose, I guess. Thanks for your time.
