"Mono no aware" di Valentina De Rosa

Mono no aware è un termine giapponese che descrive la consapevolezza della precarietà delle cose ed il lieve senso di rammarico che comporta il loro trascorrere, qualcosa simile a bellezza velata di tristezza. Le scene catturate si concentrano sul mondo contemporaneo, analizzano la vita alienante delle grandi città. Rumori muti e vocii sordi aleggiano nel contesto urbano e sembrano raccontare il senso di solitudine, di alienazione, di incomunicabilità dell’uomo contemporaneo. Ognuno è isolato nel rincorrere i propri pensieri, gli sguardi non si incontrano, sono vicini ma irraggiungibili. Figure assorte nei loro pensieri, siedono allo stesso tavolo di un self-service che diventa metafora della fredda distanza che isola corpi e pensieri (messa in risalto dal frastuono della tecnologia). La cornice e il vetro, come linee di confine tra realtà percepita e realtà rappresentata, sembrano accentuare ancora di più, come un grande monitor, distanza e alienazione. Quello che interessa è lo spazio intermedio: tra spazio reale (della vita in continuo movimento) e quello finto (e apparentemente statico) della rappresentazione, del “dentro”, del luogo-vetrina, paradossalmente simile a quello di una foto. La vetrina della vita, come una foto che rincorre la realtà. I due spazi, interno ed esterno, sembrano riflettere la coscienza dello spirito e la coscienza della materia, quello della realtà e della finzione, quella della fotografia e della vita.

Mono no aware is a Japanese term describing the awareness of how things are precarious and the faint sense of regret caused by the passing of time, something similar to beauty veiled by sadness. The scenes in the photos focus the attention on the contemporary world, they analyse the alienating life in the big cities. In the urban contest there are silent sounds and hollow voices, it seems that they express the feeling of loneliness, alienation and incommunicability of contemporary man. Everybody is isolated from the world, everybody runs after his own thoughts, the eyes do not meet, they are close but unreachable. The characters are absorbed in thought, they are seated at the same table in a cafeteria. This proper scene highlights the cold distance between bodies and thoughts (expressly stressed by the noise of technology). It seems that the frame and the glass, similar to borderlines between perceived reality and represented reality, emphasize distance and alienation, just like a big screen. The most interesting element is the intermediate space: in other words, that space between the real space (i.e. life that continuously goes on) and the other one, the artificial and seemingly lifeless of the representation, the "inside", the scene-window, paradoxically similar to the space of a photograph. Life window is like a photo that runs after the reality. It seems that the two spaces, internal and external, reflect the awareness of soul as opposed to substance, the consciousness of reality as opposed to fiction, photography as opposed to life.
