Living in the Transition

"Living in the Transition" is a photo story about the people who are living peacefully in the transition of life environment caused by the effects of climate change in Gabura Union, Bangladesh. Gabura Union where located in the southwestern coastal area of Bangladesh is one of the vulnerable areas to the effects of climate change. However, despite many residents of Gabura Union have been inflicted severe and long-term burdens physically or economically associated with its effects, they are leading a peaceful and slow life in the land.

The purpose of this photo story is that documenting and focusing on the life of people in Gabura Union that have been gradually changed by the effects of climate change such as frequent tropical cyclones, monsoon rainfall, river erosion, salinity intrusion and depopulation associated with migration to urban areas.
In addition, this story aims to take a role as one of the ways of understanding what is going on the edge of the world now by its effects, how they are living with the various effects of climate change even though they are suffering its effects physically and economically, and what kind of problems will come along our lives in the future by climate change.
It is seems as if life of people in Gabura Union is peaceful and slowly, however it is actually fragile and extremely severe to live in the place, and they have anxieties somewhere in their hearts to the future.
As a result, this photo story contributes to improve perception and understanding magnitude and effects of climate change to the life of the people in Gabura Union.
