Rulli Frulli - Just not a Band
Rulli Frulli is not just a band but an EDUCATIONAL METHOD with a social generative potential studied by the Catholic University of Milan and soon to be explained in a publication.
The Rulli Frulli Band was born in Finale Emilia (MO) in September 2010 based on an idea by Federico Alberghini. To date the number of its participants has grown to over 70 members, including a wide range of young people.
The Banda Rulli Frulli in fact includes disabled and able of different age, gender and nationality. The band is a reality that aims to involve its participants, overcoming the barriers of disability because they are united by the desire to make music together.
The educational activities of the band are multiple: first of all the SOUND RESEARCH. It is fundamental to enter into the material as sounding material, to understand an object that sounds, how it sounds and why it sounds. The band does this in an instinctive, way. Coming in contact with an instrument to speak a universal language, that is, Rhythm.
In addition to the music workshop, there is also a workshop for making instruments from recycled materials.
Discovering that a child or young person can see a small drum in a rusty casserole is nothing new and doesn't surprise anymore. It is quite different to realize that, with proper coordination, all these materials find a common meaning and generate an effect that has nothing to envy to the industrially produced instrument.
Children and adolescents are encouraged to always research for more in order to find the device that satisfies them most, changing it until it fully represents them, all with a very specific ultimate aim: to make it part of the Band.
A second satellite project of the Banda Rulli Frulli is "AstronaveLab", a socio-occupational workshop where objects are created according to the "Rulli Frulli" didactic method. Ideas often come from the sea, using mainly pieces of disused boats or discarded wood,
The Rulli Frulli Educational Method does not want to standardize or flatten its members, but rather to enhance their extraordinary diversity, showing that aggregation can bring amazing result.
Due to the earthquake that strucked Emilia Romagna in 2012, the Band lost its headquarters. So thanks to the contribution of Emilia Romagna Region, the Municipality of Finale Emilia, Foundations and private citizens, the 21st of May 2022 will be the “opening day” for “THE RULLI FRULLI STATION", a place where the activities of the "Rulli Frulli Educational Method" will be held, which in the meantime has been exported from the Bassa to 5 Italian cities :
