Visual reflections about the pandemic

This project was born in Spain on 14th March 2020 during the lockdown. It is a three chapter work using analogue photography which covers “Awareness”, “Lockdown” and “New Normal”.

The journey began with much feeling of death in mind, with an elated entry into lockdown, a reclusive time which offered options not possible beforehand. This led over the weeks to a period of weariness, hopelessness and at times, to complete dispair. Staying indoors was initially desirable but turned into a frustrated desire for the outdoors now only seen through the slits of the blinds.

But lockdown was just the beginning that led to the so called “New Normal” then, the forgotten streets and people will show themselves to be hurt, mistreated and neglected.

I delve deep into the significance of the images which appeared through my lens trying to understand the characteristics of this “New Normal” or at least trying to organise them to think about them in a different way.
