Summer celebration

Castilla-La Mancha, Spain.

During the month of August, celebrations lasting several days take place. Many towns and villages, usually quite and lazy under the hot summer sun, burst into night long celebrations, when people gather in the main square for music, dance and fun till dawn.

The whole town and populations is geared up for this event. Teenagers gather in groups to share a few days of fun, religious processions walk down the main streets, which have been framed by fences and protections in anticipation of the "encierros", the bull runs taking place in the early morning.

A mix of tradition, religion and modernity depicting the heart and soul of central Spain.
