The Land of Fire

In this series, realized in Argentine Patagonia in and around Ushuaia and El Calafate, I intended to document the tenuous, if markedly spiritual, human connection to the wilderness of the land. In these towns, where strays and horses roam the backstreets, one can never be sure if the wild dog hot on your heels means you harm or not. Battered by wind and snow, Ushuaia's grit melds with religious idolatry to create the impression that the God here is a malevolent one. The air here is thick with something, a buzz that feels otherworldly.
